說到音樂,有幾個不可或缺的要素,像是節奏跟旋律。偵對這兩方面設計兩個小遊戲,帶小朋友進入音樂的美妙世界。

建議與檢討(Remark/Suggestion):
小朋友玩的很開心,但是節奏遊戲對部分小朋友來說有點困難。

炎炎夏日,藉由水球大戰消暑解熱,提升志工與小朋友之間的情誼。

建議與檢討(Remark/Suggestion):
效果很好,每個人都玩的很盡興,但之後的場復要注意。

印尼傳統舞蹈教學。

秩序控制稍嫌困難,舞蹈小朋友都很喜歡,時間的掌控也要稍微注意。

活動名稱(Name of Activity):肢體開發戲劇課 Drama Class

活動負責人(Person in Charge):Willy

活動內容(Description of Activity):
介紹戲劇的種類,戲劇的要素。示範一齣簡短的短劇吸引小朋友的注意。為了讓小朋友學習用肢體表達,進行小遊戲:比手畫腳。之後進行小遊戲二:小朋友分組抽籤,籤上有一個人物,一個事件,一種表情,小朋友需創造一個小故事包含這三個元素。其他組別的小朋友則需猜出他們的表演內容。

Perform a sketch and a jabber talk exercise. Also, perform a noun or action that they drew out of a pool of pieces of paper and have others guess. Create and perform a story out of 3 words: a noun, mood/verb and person and let other groups guess.

建議與檢討(Remark/Suggestion):
小朋友樂在其中,積極參予,認真猜出其他人的表演。

The children enjoyed the activity and were participating enthusiastically, guessing the stories correctly.

活動內容(Description of Activity):
把一張紙折成一本書。在書上繪畫,製作封面,個人檔案,或是畫上喜歡的東西等等

Fold and cut a large sheet of paper into a book. Draw a picture in a centerfold, create your profile, write a newspaper article, write/draw something about Taiwan and their favorite things, etc. Each page has a designated purpose.

建議與檢討(Remark/Suggestion):
小朋友很喜歡,但是有些無法達到我們要求的內頁設計,最後只是畫上他們想畫的東西而已。

The children enjoyed the drawing, but most failed to adequately draw and write in the designated pages. They just drew anything they wanted instead of completing the task.

活動內容(Description of Activity):
透過遊戲教一些簡單的英文單字

Teach colors, verbs, nouns. Play a color game, a noun game (with identification of items), and sing a couple of songs, such as “If you’re happy and you know it” and “Head and shoulders.”

建議與檢討(Remark/Suggestion):
分成兩組教學,玩比較多遊戲的那組成效較好,年紀稍長的有兩種反映,一種是幫助年紀輕的進行活動,另一種則感到無聊。

The group, which played more games was more successful as the kids learned more by doing and actively participating than lecturing. Some of the bigger ones enjoyed the games and helped the smaller ones to participate and some were bored. Many liked the songs, but some didn’t sing as they couldn’t follow the lyrics.

2008/07/19

July 19th

July 10th-July 19th, Chi-De Children Home

The children are very open to the volunteers and interact with us like with older siblings or friends, but also respectfully pay attention to our lessons.

We have performed dances with them and played sports, taught aerobics and English. They use more English now while talking to the foreign volunteers and the older children are talkative around the volunteers. Today, for instance, they very actively participated in the lesson about jobs and occupations.

The home organized a trip to the beach and even though it rained, the children were happy and orderly. They were more free than at home, but the older ones helped take care of the small ones just like at home. We bonded on the bus and the trip to the aquarium. They were fascinated by the aquarium's exhibit. Again, they wanted to absorb knowledge.

The contact books are our way to communicate in a one-on-one way with each individual. We have prepared them for each child and every night they write down something they liked, disliked, and have learned today and something they want to tell any of the volunteers. The children are eager to write in the books and they receive answers from the volunteers in them as well.

We have noticed that the children easily formed groups and are working creatively on the final project, which they will present at the end of the program. They quickly came up with ideas for their performances and started practicing already.

2008/07/09

July 9th, 2008 - Chi-De

Location: Chi-de Children Home, Kaohsiung County.

Volunteers: Tim, Kasia, Anan, Diana, Julie.

We have spent the last four days with the children trying to increase communication in English and have achieved a large progress in that area. The children have become increasingly eager to talk and learn the English language (except for the preschoolers who are less successfully interactive due to their age).

We have noticed that English lessons performed in a classroom are much less effective than learning-while-doing. Teaching English while playing games, while taking a walk or even in the dining hall brings better results.
We were teaching songs to them today and tomorrow we will incorporate teaching into sports. We have prepared sports vocabulary that they will use immediately after lesson while using the items and performing the activities which names they will have just learned. They should be able to memorize them more easily and eagerly that way.

Two people in our group do not speak Chinese, and we try to overcome the language gap by, for instance, drawing and writing things down on a paper pad during every meal in the dining room. The kids are enthusiastic about exchanging drawings and new English words while they teach those words in Chinese to the volunteers as well.

We have taught them about foreign cultures and plan to keep increasing their interest in that area.

Volunteer: Jean and Stephanie

Description: To know Vietnamese language and culture

Remark/Suggestion: some children may have no interest in foreign culture, not only because of comprehension but also because of competition in boy and girl groups. Nonetheless, volunteers are not here to teach a whole lesson, but to raise children’s interest.


(2) Time: 2008/07/07 10:20-12:00

Activity: fine crafts

Person in charge: Emily

Volunteer: all

Description: To cut papers into shape of luck in Chinese

Remark/Suggestion: Children did it very quickly. Maybe we can have the older children teach younger ones, or to show another challenging skill for them to follow, and let them to fly their own imagination.


(3) Time: 2008/07/07 15:00-16:30

Activity: group activity game

Person in charge: Guo-fan

Volunteer: Ruby, Rita, Jessie, and Emily

Description: To have children

Remark/Suggestion: be sure to make distinct rules for child to obey, otherwise they may feel bored and at a loss. The other reason would be that some games are a little bit difficult for all of them to catch up. So we need to make everyone concentrated.

Activity: movie

Person in charge: Jean

Volunteer: Koen, Nadya, and Stephanie

Description: to watch a movie and encourage them to make a short show.

Remark/Suggestion: It might be difficult to make all children participate in one activity. Besides that, their creative show really makeseveryone burst into laughters. :)

Remark/Suggestion: children may make noise when they are absent-minded. We should set up rules for them to follow, and the most importantly is to catch their attention.

Description: To play basketball with kids

Remark/Suggestion: They have talents for sports. 

Remark/Suggestion: Children are active and energetic ;)

Description: To have a view of hakka culture and to watch a movie

Remark/Suggestion: Volunteers should not have been closely to any individual child. We must keep fair.

Activity: Meeting with the principal of children’s home

Description: To discuss the schedule and the details with the faculty

Remark/Suggestion: Principal have aware us not to get too closely to children in person. The best way is to act in groups.

Activity: Introduction of yourself All volunteers

Description: Introduce everyone’s name to those children

Remark/Suggestion: Children cannot catch what we will do in the future. And, volunteers, even close to them, should keep the distance and set some rules in getting along with them.

(3)Time: 2008/07/04 15:00-15:30

Activity: Ice-breaking

Description: To have children and volunteers familiar with each other.

Remark/Suggestion: Because of language gap, children have problem in communication with foreign volunteers. However, they can talk with us in body language and some facial expression.

Activity: Bingo-bingo

Person in charge: Jessie

Deacription: Write names on the paper according to the character and then play bingo.

Remark/Suggestion: Children devoted themselves to this game and had a happy time.
